The Arc Project: Humans from Mundane to Mythical

Humans make for fascinating subjects. As artists, we start with the simple task of capturing the spirit of being human in our works. We navigate the many challenges - limitations of media and skill, discomfort, emotional visceral interactions and reactions - yet we yearn to say something, capturing an essence that sometimes only we can see. This is the point where this exhibit begins - with human beings in front of us; extracting from life the ordinary and mundane to the fantastical and mythical! All representations are valid ways to celebrate the beautiful arc of our humanity - that shared experience which celebrates us!
Opening Reception: Saturday, July 8th, 2023 from 1‐6pm

Workshop
Recycle 2023, the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition’s national juried show of art crafted from cast‐off, discarded, and re‐purposed materials, will be a celebration of ingenuity and imagination. We are seeking to exhibit sophisticated two‐ and three‐ dimensional art created in the re‐use genre. BWAC is seeking original artwork from artists working in repurposed materials. Entries must incorporate at least 50 percent of repurposed, recycled, or reused materials. The theme is open to any medium resulting in 2‐Dimensional or 3-Dimensional work. As well as looking for skill in the use of material, we want to see art that demonstrates the importance of conserving our limited natural resources. We look for how well the medium relates to the upcycling movement and how fully the artist’s intention or concept is presented and realized. The juror’s awards will reflect that artistic judgment.
