BWAC is a artist-run, 501(c)3 non-profit. With 25,000 SF of exhibition space, we provide opportunities for artists to show their work, develop professionally, and engage the public in the experience of art.

On September 17 and 18, 2025, a devastating fire occurred in our building at 481 Van Brunt St. The BWAC space survived the fire, but experienced severe water and mold damage. Therefore, the gallery will be closed until further notice. All Sip & Paint sessions, workshops, events and scheduled performances are suspended until the gallery can be rebuilt.

We are deeply saddened by these circumstances, but are determined to rebuild. BWAC has existed for 47 years due to the support of people like you. Thank you for your interest and support!

In Memory of Greg O’Connell

April 8, 1942 - August 2, 2025

Decades-long friend and benefactor of BWAC, Greg O’Connell has passed away at the age of 83. Without him, there would never have been a Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition in Red Hook.
