If you want to learn more about us, you’re in the right place. Read to learn how BWAC gives back to the community!!!!
What started out in 1978 as a grass roots artist co-op has grown over the years by leaps and bounds. Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition was able to become a 501c(3) non for profit organization through hard work and the establishment of community partnerships with the Brooklyn Arts Council, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and of course, our esteemed benefactors, The O’Connell Organization. With the generosity of a beautifully situated warehouse space for our organization in Red Hook, we were well on our way to promoting emerging artists in seasonal shows which have become a tradition in RedHook.
Today, we are still maintained strictly by donations from generous supporters like you and we look forward to continuing our programming so that we can give back to our community . We offer artists of all genres the opportunity to exhibit in our gallery space almost all year long through juried shows, member shows, pop up art galleries, our Young Performance Series, Internship Programs as well as through special events such as Red Hook Open Studios and places such as private law firms, the Brooklyn Historical Society and more! We are a totally artist run organization with many needs and have always strived to put our best foot forward with what we offer to the community.
