Bluestone 739 is all about rendering classic old time American folk, bluegrass, and good time mountain music, with some original songs thrown in. We are often joined by other like-minded musicians who like to get in on the fun. Bluestone 739 takes its name from the blue stone quarried from the Appalachian mountains. Route 739 is the country road that goes past Hemlock Farms in Pennsylvania where we began playing music together.

Maren Swenson Waxenberg, ukulele and vocals, is an NEA Grant recipient who toured with The Plain People throughout the Midwest. She’s appeared in NYC at the The Triad, Sidewalk, Hill Country BBQ, 78 Below, the Metropolitan Club, Caravan of Dreams, Greenwich Village Bistro, West End Lounge and Birdland.

Liz Taub, mandolin, fiddle and vocals, a.k.a. Violizzy began her musical training in the NYC public schools. She’s an eclectic performer who, in addition to Bluestone 739, currently plays with Mar Sala Band, The Moon Goddess Band, and the UN Symphony Orchestra. Leah Wells is an extraordinary singer/songwriter/multiinstrumentalist from the East Village who performs regularly at various venues in and around NYC.

DK and the Joy Machine hit the alt-folk scene running after an 18 year hiatus in 2012, performing since then at Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene’s Grocery, Dixon Place HOT! Fest, and other well known NYC venues while touring regularly in Europe and the US. Featuring master fiddle player Liz Taub, the champion-winning mountain dulcimer artist and songwriter DK, and the intricate back up vocals of Lindsey Wilson, the “Joy Machine” creates a rich sound to move your soul.

Lindsey Wilson is vocalist/songwriter/guitarist who says: “When I started to do music I did a lot of love songs and songs about consciousness and I wanted it to reach people’s hearts. My responsibility as a musician and an artist is to express what’s going on in the world right now. I’m the town crier right now.” Facebook: Lindsey Wilson Music

Marta tours every year in Europe presenting her new projects.

Val Kinzler – Throught her life, Val has taught music and created special events involving women in music.
