Live at BWAC: Sunday Salon Concert hosted by Spectrum

  • BWAC 481 Van Brunt Street Brooklyn, NY, 11231 United States (map)

Sunday Salon Concert - $10 suggested donation

This program explores the meaning and expression of the poetic form of the elegy across multiple generations and cultural landscapes. In this program we hear from artists specifically writing elegies (Takemitsu), artists who write tributes to each other, other artists, and friends (Takemitsu, Kurtag, and Knussen), and artists who explore the meaning of the elegy as a form of memorializing a past version of their life, such as their childhood (Enescu). Through these beautiful pieces, we are able to look at the elegy from multiple angles and explore what is so compelling about the elegy as a form of exploring memory and seeking reflection.

Two sets:

  • Lauren Conroy, Violin and Matthew Schultheis, Piano

  • Cornelius Dufallo, Violin and Guy Barash, Composer
