RECYCLE 2018, the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition’s national juried show of art crafted from cast-off, discarded, and re-purposed materials – is a celebration of ingenuity and imagination.

We are honored to have as our juror John Cloud Kaiser,  Director of Education at Materials for the Arts, one of the largest reuse centers in the U.S and a program of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

“Reusable materials have inspired the amazing artwork in this exhibit. Using everything from plastic bottles to puzzle pieces to torn pages from books, these pieces exist in a meaningful response to the materials they are made from. Whether it is the painting made on a discarded canvas found on 9/ll, or the gold melted into the cracks of broken marble tile, or the green paint cans glued together in a latex totem, all material used here tell a story.

This show of art made from reusable materials is a celebration of art that is aware of its context.  Art that is sustainable, political, and more important than ever today.”
- John Cloud Kaiser, May, 2018

The exhibition is on view from May 12 – June 17, 2018.  $3000 in cash awards were presented to winners on opening day.
