Classically trained, Cathy Crisci has been a lead singer for the past 25 years. She is presently the vocalist for several NYC-based groups. Her disco, funk, soul and R&B band Luxe has held a residency at The Bohemian Hall & Garden since 2013. Crisci’s two acoustic duo acts are The Cheshire Cats (Paul Ryan, gtr) presenting classic rock hits with a bluesy edge, and Instant Gratification, (Ed Gonzales, gtr), boasting an eclectic assortment of songs from the 60s through the present. Crisci also fronts Tangerine, a Led Zeppelin cover band. Past projects include Quickfinger, a 80s hair metal tribute act, as well as other Astoria cover bands and original projects.
A songwriter and composer with an original project in the works, Crisci has a great love and appreciation for many genres of music and is proud to be a part of the Astoria music community. For the BWAC Performance Series, Cathy will be performing jazz standards with fellow friend and musician Joe Pepe, an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist. Pepe’s funk/psychedelic band Kabina is a downtown favorite; he also performs in several Astoria-based bands, including original rock band Dirty Wings.
Joe Pepe is a guitarist and composer living in Queens, New York, who has played for over 20 years, exploring in depth Blues, Funk, Jazz, and Country genres in both his original work and collaborations. Pepe is currently involved with many different musical projects, including Dirty Wings (rock, country-punk), Kabina (Jam, Funk, Jazz), as well as playing and co-producing original music with Doris Cellar. Pepe is pleased to play with Cathy Crisci for the BWAC music series.
