Our favorite long-running Saturday reading series finishes with The Word Cabaret’s 2nd annual Ekphrastic Spectacular. Word Cabaret asked some favorite Brooklyn-based writers to create original pieces inspired by BWAC’s fall show, “Brooklyn Is….” For this “reading,” audience members gather and then literally walk off for a promenade production–or walking tour–through the gallery. Each tour makes 9 stops at various works to hear new stories, monologues, and poems in front of the art that that inspired them. Artists whose work inspired the texts on the tour, include Jon Bunge, Marvin Fink, James Hanlon, Elizabeth Featherstone Hoff, Brian G. Keogh, Renee Radenberg, Syma, Ellie Winberg, and Shihori Yamamoto.
Grab your FREE tickets for one of three tours for Writers include award-winning poets David Tomas Martinez and Sally Wen Mao; playwrights Nathan Dobson, Cindy D. Hanson, Lindsay Joy and Padraic Lillis; and the filmmaking, dramtist poet husband and wife team of Lori and Tom Romero. Professional actors will peform their words in many cases, all under the direction of Courtney Wetzel.
The three tours on Saturday leave from the front of the 2nd floor gallery at 3:30, 4:15, and 5:00 pm; reserve the time of your choice through Eventbrite here.
