Landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, dreamscapes, whatever escapes from the imaginations of over 200 local artists -more than 1000 pieces in all media – is exhibited this summer in BWAC’s unique and iconic Civil War-era gallery.
Summerscapes, BWAC’s thirteenth annual summer show opens on Saturday, August 1st with an all-day Meet the Artists reception, an opportunity for visitors to meet and chat with exhibiting artists. Throughout the day, the young, New York- based Wayne Tucker Quartet, will be performing a variety of jazz standards as well as some of trumpet player Tucker’s original compositions.
Scads of special events are planned for the show with the UnPlugged in Red Hook performance series each Sunday at 4, and a variety of bold, alternative and experimental productions from brooklynONE .
With its hot art and cool jazz, Summerscapes is the perfect summer weekend escape – located at a spectacular waterfront site overlooking the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor. It is across from the Fairway supermarket and down the block from IKEA in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, with trendy boutiques and restaurants galore.
